Working with King Health
There is no fee for our guidance. We are compensated by the carriers whose plans we place, and the premium for a given plan is the same whether you enroll through us or directly.
We are not employed by a single insurance company. We represent multiple carriers, which allows us to compare plans side by side and recommend the one that fits your circumstances and your budget rather than a sales quota.
King Health is licensed in New Jersey and North Carolina, so we can advise and place coverage for residents of either state. Conversations can take place by phone or at our office in Newark.
We review your request and reach out personally to arrange a conversation at a time that suits you. Submitting the form is a request to be contacted rather than an application for coverage, and it carries no obligation.
About King Health
King Health LLC is owned by Javon King, an independent insurance advisor licensed in New Jersey and North Carolina, and is based in Newark.
King Health is an independent agency rather than an insurer. Policies are issued, underwritten and administered by the carriers we represent, and each carrier is responsible for the obligations described in its own policy documents.
We do. We remain beside you after enrollment, reviewing your coverage as your life changes and helping with questions whenever they arise.
Senior Benefits
Explore Senior BenefitsYour Initial Enrollment Period is a seven month window that opens three months before the month you turn sixty five, includes that month, and closes three months after it. Beginning the conversation a few months early leaves time to compare plans against your doctors and prescriptions without the pressure of a deadline.
Original Medicare generally does not cover routine dental care, eye examinations for glasses or hearing aids. Standalone ancillary plans, and some Medicare Advantage plans, can close those gaps, and we compare both routes against the care you expect to need.
Final expense coverage is a modest whole life policy intended to cover funeral costs, outstanding medical bills and other obligations at the end of life. The benefit is paid directly to your beneficiary, and many policies require answers to a short set of health questions rather than a medical examination.
Each approach suits different priorities. Medicare Supplement plans pair with Original Medicare and offer broad freedom to see providers who accept Medicare, while Medicare Advantage plans often feature lower monthly premiums and added benefits within a network. We compare these approaches against your doctors, your travel habits and your budget before recommending a direction.
There is no fee for our guidance. We are compensated by the carriers whose plans we place, and the premium for a given plan is the same whether you enroll through us or directly. King Health is not connected with or endorsed by the U.S. government or the federal Medicare program. We do not offer every plan available in your area, and you may always contact Medicare directly or visit Medicare.gov for a complete view of your options.
In many cases you can. The annual enrollment period each fall allows changes to Medicare Advantage and prescription drug coverage, and certain life events open special enrollment periods. Changing a Medicare Supplement plan may involve health questions depending on your state and timing, so we review the rules that apply to you before any change.
Usually not. Most final expense policies rely on health questions alone, and guaranteed acceptance options ask no health questions at all, although those policies generally include a waiting period before the full benefit is available.
We consider the arrangements you envision, any other coverage or savings you already have and the premium that fits your budget. Our aim is to provide meaningful provision without asking more of your monthly income than is comfortable.
Yes. The benefit is paid to your beneficiaries, who may use it for funeral costs, remaining medical bills, travel for family members or any other need that arises.
No. Ancillary plans are designed to supplement your primary coverage rather than replace it. They fill specific needs such as routine dental care or provide cash benefits that help with costs your health plan does not cover.
In most cases, yes. Seniors, individuals and families can usually purchase these plans individually, and employers can offer them to their teams as part of a group or voluntary benefits program.
Accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity and cancer plans generally pay benefits directly to you once a covered claim is approved. The funds are yours to use as you see fit, whether for medical bills, travel, childcare or everyday household expenses.
Individual Benefits
Explore Individual BenefitsIndividual health plans generally enroll during the annual Open Enrollment Period each fall. Outside that window, a qualifying life event such as losing employer coverage, marriage, the birth of a child or a move can open a Special Enrollment Period, which is typically limited to sixty days from the event.
Term life insurance covers a defined period, such as the years a mortgage remains outstanding or children live at home, at a lower premium. Whole life insurance lasts for your lifetime and builds cash value at a higher premium. Many households combine the two, and we model both against your goals before recommending either.
The right amount depends on the income your household would need to replace, outstanding debts, future obligations such as education, and the savings and coverage you already hold. We work through each of those figures with you rather than relying on a single rule of thumb.
For households that expect regular cleanings, fillings, eye examinations or new lenses, a dedicated dental and vision plan can reduce out of pocket costs considerably. Waiting periods often apply to major dental work, so enrolling before the need arises tends to matter.
Many households do. Premium tax credits for marketplace plans are based on household income and size, and we will help you estimate whether you qualify and how much the credit may reduce your premium.
A qualifying life event such as a move, a marriage, a new child or the loss of other coverage may open a special enrollment period. Some private plans also accept applications throughout the year, and we will review which options are available to you.
Networks vary from plan to plan, so we check your preferred physicians and hospitals against each option before making a recommendation.
Term life covers a defined period and generally carries a lower premium, while whole life covers your entire lifetime and builds cash value. Many families combine these forms of coverage, and we help you decide which approach, or which combination, best fits your goals and your budget.
Yes. You may borrow against the cash value or make withdrawals, subject to your policy terms. Outstanding loans and withdrawals reduce the death benefit, so we review the effect of any access with you beforehand.
Traditional whole life policies carry a level premium that is set when the policy is issued and does not rise with age.
The right amount depends on your income, your debts, your children's future needs and the savings you already have. We work through these factors with you and recommend a figure that provides meaningful protection at a premium you can sustain.
Depending on your policy, you may convert some or all of the coverage to a permanent policy, renew it at a higher premium, or allow it to end if your family no longer needs it. We review these choices with you well before the term concludes.
Some policies require a brief examination, while others rely on health questions and records alone. We will explain the underwriting path for each carrier we recommend.
Preventive care is often covered right away, while basic and major services may carry waiting periods. Some plans waive these waiting periods for applicants with prior dental coverage, and we will point out those options where they are available.
In many cases you can. We check whether your dentist and eye doctor participate in each plan's network, and we also identify plans that allow you to visit any provider.
Bundling is often convenient and can be cost effective, but it is not required. We compare stand alone and combined plans so that you pay only for the coverage your family will use.
Group Benefits
Explore Group BenefitsEligibility rules vary by carrier and by state, and many carriers write small group plans for businesses with only a handful of employees. We confirm the participation and eligibility requirements that apply to your company before any quote is prepared.
Employers typically contribute a share of each employee premium, and carriers often set a minimum employer contribution. We model several contribution levels so that you can see the cost to the business and the cost to employees side by side before you commit.
In many cases you can. Group dental, vision and life plans can often be offered on their own or added later, which allows a business to begin with a focused benefits package and expand it as the team grows.
Group plans usually take effect on the first day of a month once the carrier approves the application, the employee census and the initial premium. Timing depends on underwriting, so we recommend beginning the process several weeks before the date you have in mind.
Many carriers offer group plans to quite small businesses, including some with only a few employees. Minimum participation and contribution requirements vary by carrier and by state, and we will confirm what applies to your business.
Carriers typically require a minimum employer contribution toward employee coverage, and employers may choose to contribute more or to help with dependent coverage. We help you design a contribution strategy that fits your budget and your goals for the team.
Many carriers allow employers to offer a choice of plans, which lets employees select the balance of premium and benefits that suits their own households. We will show you which arrangements are available.
Employer paid group term life coverage above a certain amount may create imputed income for employees under federal tax rules. We explain how this works and coordinate with your payroll provider so that it is handled correctly.
Many group life policies include portability or conversion provisions that allow departing employees to continue coverage on an individual basis. The specific terms depend on the carrier and the policy.
Basic coverage and amounts of voluntary coverage up to a guaranteed issue limit often require no health questions when elected during initial enrollment. Larger amounts may require evidence of insurability.
The employer decides. Benefits can be fully employer paid, shared between the business and its employees, or offered on a voluntary basis in which employees pay their own premiums through payroll deduction, which adds valuable choices at little or no cost to the business.
Group ancillary coverage is arranged through the employer under a group contract, with eligibility, plan design and pricing set for the whole group, and enrollment usually takes place during a set enrollment period. Individual ancillary policies are purchased and owned directly by the policyholder, with underwriting and pricing determined individually.
Often they do not. Many carriers offer guaranteed issue or simplified enrollment during the initial enrollment period, up to set coverage limits. Requirements vary by carrier, product and group size, and enrolling after that window may require answers to health questions.
It depends on the plan. Some group policies include a portability or conversion option that lets a departing employee continue coverage by paying the carrier directly, while others end when employment ends. We confirm these terms before you choose a plan.
Carriers commonly require a minimum level of participation for a group ancillary plan to be placed and renewed, and the threshold usually differs between employer paid and voluntary plans. We confirm the requirements that apply to your company before any quote is prepared.
Yes. Voluntary dental and vision plans allow employees to purchase coverage at group rates through payroll deduction, often with minimal administrative effort for the employer.
Many carriers set minimum participation levels, particularly for employer paid plans. We will confirm the requirements for each option and help you choose a structure that your team will support.
Waiting periods for major services are common, but group plans frequently shorten or waive them, especially for larger groups or employer paid programs. We compare these terms as part of our recommendation.
Retirement
Explore RetirementAn annuity is designed primarily to accumulate savings and convert them into dependable income, while indexed universal life is permanent life insurance that provides a death benefit and builds cash value linked to the performance of a market index. Each serves a different purpose, and some plans use both.
Index crediting in fixed indexed annuities and indexed universal life is protected from index declines. Surrender charges, rider fees, policy charges or withdrawals beyond the contract allowance can still reduce the value, so we review those terms carefully before you commit.
Earlier planning allows more time for growth and more flexibility in how income is structured. A review in the years immediately before retirement remains valuable, because it can clarify how guaranteed income, savings and coverage will work together.
We do not. Our role is the insurance and annuity side of your plan, and we coordinate with your financial advisor and tax professional so that each recommendation fits the strategy you already have in place.
The principal and credited interest in a fixed indexed annuity are protected from index declines. However, surrender charges, optional rider fees or withdrawals beyond the contract allowance can reduce the value, so we review these terms carefully before you commit.
Most annuities allow a portion of the value to be withdrawn each year without a surrender charge, and many waive charges in certain circumstances such as confinement to a nursing facility. Larger withdrawals during the surrender period may incur charges and taxes, which we explain fully.
Earnings are taxed as ordinary income when withdrawn, and the treatment of income payments depends on how the annuity was funded. We recommend consulting your tax professional, and we are glad to coordinate with them.
No. Interest is credited based on the performance of an index, but your cash value is not invested directly in the market. This is what allows the floor to protect your account from index losses.
Once sufficient cash value has accumulated, you may access it through policy loans or withdrawals to supplement retirement income. Because access affects the death benefit and the long term health of the policy, we plan these distributions carefully with you.
Illustrations show how a policy may perform under stated assumptions, and actual results will vary with index performance and policy charges. We review the guaranteed values alongside the illustrated values so that you understand the full range of outcomes.
Carriers
The carriers available to you depend on the coverage line and on where you live. We confirm which carriers serve your area during our conversation and compare their plans for you side by side.
No. The premium for a given plan is the same whether you enroll through us or directly with the carrier, and there is no fee for our guidance.
